DRI Amritsar Seizes Gold Worth Rs 94 Lakh from Dubai Passengers

DRI Amritsar gold seizure, Amritsar Airport gold smuggling case, Dubai passengers caught with gold

The DRI Amritsar gold seizure at Sri Guru Ram Dass Jee International Airport shocked officials on Friday. Acting on a tip-off, DRI Amritsar officers stopped two passengers from Dubai and found gold hidden in their cargo pants.

Each man carried gold ornaments such as chains, bangles, and rings. One had 430 grams and the other 396 grams. Together, the gold is worth Rs 94 lakh. Officers said the travellers looked nervous, which led to a detailed check.

The DRI team quickly confirmed that both were trying to smuggle gold into India. They detained the men for questioning to find out if they belong to a larger smuggling group.

Officials said the DRI Amritsar gold seizure was part of their ongoing effort to stop illegal gold trade through Punjab airports. The department has increased checks on all international flights to prevent such crimes.

This action shows the DRI’s firm stand against gold smuggling and its focus on keeping border trade clean and legal.
