EAGLE Force Steps Up Measures for Drug-Free New Year in Telangana
The Telangana police’s EAGLE (Elite Anti-Narcotics Group for Law Enforcement) Force has intensified efforts to ensure drug-free New Year celebrations across the State. With festivities approaching, special drives and surveillance operations have been launched to curb the sale, transport, and consumption of narcotic substances, officials said on Tuesday.
EAGLE Force teams are conducting checks at transit points, hotels, pubs, and party venues, while also monitoring online platforms suspected of facilitating drug transactions. Police have increased coordination with local units to gather intelligence and act swiftly on credible information. Awareness programmes are also being conducted to caution youngsters against drug abuse and its legal consequences.
Officials said strict action would be taken against those found involved in drug peddling or consumption, with zero tolerance during the festive period. The initiative is aimed at safeguarding public health and safety, particularly among youth, and ensuring peaceful New Year celebrations. Citizens have been urged to cooperate with law enforcement and report any suspicious activity.
