The Election Commission (EC) is gearing up to implement the *Special Intensive Revision (SIR)* of voter lists across the country. All state Chief Electoral Officers (CEOs) have been instructed to have updated voter lists ready, incorporating revisions based on previously published electoral rolls, by *September 30*.
Sources indicate that the SIR process may officially commence between *October and November*. This exercise aims to ensure that voter lists are accurate and comprehensive ahead of upcoming elections, removing discrepancies and including newly eligible voters.
The process has already been implemented in *Bihar*, where opposition parties raised concerns, alleging that eligible voters were being removed from the rolls. The EC’s nationwide initiative seeks to streamline electoral rolls, enhance transparency, and prevent voter disenfranchisement. Authorities have been urged to follow the directives strictly, ensuring a fair and impartial revision process, reinforcing confidence in the electoral system.
