ED Arrests Reliance Power CFO Ashok Pal in Money Laundering Case
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has arrested Ashok Pal, Chief Financial Officer of Reliance Power, a company under Anil Ambani’s Reliance Group, on charges of money laundering. The arrest was made on Friday under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), according to officials.
Pal is accused of being involved in financial irregularities linked to a wider investigation into alleged diversion of funds and suspicious financial transactions within the company. The ED has been probing the Reliance Group’s financial dealings for some time, and Pal’s arrest marks a significant development in the case.
He was taken in for questioning and later placed under custody after the agency claimed to have gathered sufficient evidence pointing to his role in laundering funds. The arrest may have wider implications for the group, which has already been under financial and regulatory scrutiny in recent years.
