The East Kameng district unit of the All Nyishi Youth Association (EK-ANYA), which began a foot march from Seppa on 14 November protesting the alleged compensation scam related to the Lada–Sarli road under the Arunachal Frontier Highway, reached Itanagar on Wednesday, marking day six of their march. The group is staging a sit-in at IG Park’s tennis court and plans to continue the protest until 23 November.
EK-ANYA president Ramesh Taku said a representation will be submitted to the Chief Secretary demanding re-verification of compensation for Packages 1–5 of the highway, arrest of suspended officials involved in irregularities, and refund of misused funds to genuine beneficiaries.
Around 30 participants began the march, though some withdrew due to health issues.
Earlier, the state government suspended four officials and recommended the suspension of the East Kameng Deputy Commissioner after a Fact-Finding Committee unearthed major irregularities. The probe found non-existent assets being assessed, wrongful evaluations, exclusion of actual landowners, and payments to fake beneficiaries. Complaints also cited lack of surveys, absence of notices, and huge disparities in compensation amounts.
