Andhra Pradesh Minister Gottipati Ravi announced a significant relief for power consumers, declaring that electricity charges will be reduced from November. Addressing the media, the Minister revealed that the per-unit tariff will be cut by 13 paise, easing the financial burden on households across the state.
Ravi criticized the previous YSRCP government for hiking electricity tariffs nine times in five years, which he said pushed people into unnecessary financial strain. He explained that the current administration has successfully controlled high-cost power purchases, making the tariff cut possible.
The Minister also highlighted that the government has already waived ₹926 crore in True-Up charges, providing additional relief to consumers. He assured that further reductions in electricity rates will be implemented in the coming months, reaffirming the government’s commitment to affordable power and people-friendly governance while maintaining the stability of the state’s power sector.
