Electricity Connection Within 3 Days: Bihar Officials Face ₹1,000 Daily Fine for Delay

Electricity connection within 3 days rule in Bihar with ₹1000 daily fine for officials

The electricity connection within 3 days rule will soon bring faster power services for people in Bihar. The state government has introduced strict rules to hold officials responsible if they delay electricity services.

Under the new rule, officials must provide an electricity connection within 3 days in metropolitan areas after receiving a complete application. In other urban areas, the time limit is seven days. In rural areas, authorities must provide connections within 15 days.

If officials fail to meet these deadlines, they will have to pay a penalty of ₹1,000 per day from their own pocket. The fine will start from the day after the deadline ends.

The government introduced the new rule under the revised Bihar Electricity Supply Code. The update comes after nearly 19 years. The main aim is to improve service, increase transparency, and make electricity services more consumer-friendly.

Officials believe the decision will reduce delays, increase accountability, and ensure quicker electricity connections across Bihar.
