The European Union has accused TikTok of using an “addictive design” that may harm users, especially children and teenagers. The European Commission said TikTok’s features, such as endless scrolling, autoplay videos, and constant notifications, can encourage excessive screen time and affect mental health.

The EU has asked TikTok to make changes to better protect users. These findings are part of the EU’s strict digital rules that aim to make online platforms safer and more responsible. If TikTok fails to address these concerns, it could face heavy fines.

TikTok strongly rejected the accusations. In a statement, the company said the Commission’s findings are completely false and unfair. TikTok added that it already has safety tools in place and will challenge the EU’s claims through all legal means.

The case highlights growing global concerns about the impact of social media platforms on users’ well-being.
