Shock and anger gripped Jalandhar after the 16-year-old nephew of BJP leader and former MLA Sheetal Angural was stabbed to death late Friday night. The victim, identified as Vikas Angural, lost his life following a violent attack in Shivaji Nagar of the Basti Danishmandan area.

According to police, Vikas was assaulted by three youths armed with a sharp-edged weapon after a heated argument escalated suddenly. Locals rushed the injured teenager to a nearby hospital, but doctors declared him dead due to severe injuries. The brutal killing has intensified concerns over street violence and youth safety in the city.

Soon after the incident, Sheetal Angural reached the spot and accused the ruling AAP government of failing to control crime and drug-related activities. He claimed his nephew’s murder was linked to the growing drug menace in the area and blamed administrative negligence.

Police have registered an FIR and launched an investigation. CCTV footage from nearby locations is under scrutiny to track the attackers. Officials confirmed that the main suspect, identified as Kalu, belongs to the same locality, while efforts are on to trace the remaining accused.

BJP general secretary Ashok Sarin condemned the murder and held the Punjab government responsible. He alleged that easy access to narcotics has turned parts of Jalandhar West into crime hotspots. The incident has once again triggered a sharp political face-off over law and order in Punjab.
