FIRs Filed Against Tejashwi Yadav in UP

Shahjahanpur (UP): Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav is facing fresh legal troubles after police in Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra registered FIRs against him for remarks targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

In Shahjahanpur, BJP city president Shilpi Gupta lodged a complaint alleging that Yadav’s social media post made through the official RJD account contained “indecorous” comments against the prime minister. According to Gupta, the post not only insulted the PM but also triggered “immense anger” among BJP supporters and citizens alike. The post reportedly read: “Today, the vote thief will come to Gaya, Bihar, and will tell lie after lie in front of the Biharis.”

Superintendent of Police Rajesh Dwivedi confirmed that an FIR was registered at the Sadar Bazar Police Station on Friday. Yadav has been booked under sections 353(2) (spreading rumours) and 197(1)A (making allegations through a picture) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Meanwhile, in Maharashtra’s Gadchiroli district, another FIR was filed against the former Bihar deputy chief minister following a complaint by local MLA Milind Narote. Here, Yadav has been charged under multiple BNS sections, including 196 (promoting enmity between groups), 356 (defamation), 352 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace), and 353 (statements causing public mischief).

The twin FIRs highlight the escalating political tensions, as opposition leaders’ remarks against Prime Minister Modi continue to spark legal action and fierce reactions across party lines.
