Five Infants Rescued as Police Bust Inter-State Baby Trafficking Racket in A.P.

Andhra Pradesh police have busted an inter-State baby trafficking racket and rescued five infants, arresting 10 people in connection with the crime. The operation was carried out following specific intelligence inputs, police officials said on Wednesday.
According to investigators, the gang allegedly procured babies from Delhi and Mumbai and sold them to childless couples in Andhra Pradesh and neighbouring States for around ₹5 lakh per child. The accused reportedly targeted vulnerable women and exploited gaps in the adoption system to carry out the illegal trade.
Police said the rescued infants were handed over to the Child Welfare Committee for medical examination and care, in accordance with legal procedures. Efforts are underway to trace the biological parents of the babies and identify families who may have been victims of the racket.
Senior officials said further investigation was in progress to uncover the full network, including middlemen and buyers, and to determine whether similar transactions had taken place earlier.
