Foreign Miscreants Targeting Useless Mobile Phones has become a serious security concern after a joint action by Bihar STF and Uttar Pradesh Police exposed a large racket. Police arrested a scrap dealer from Katihar who allegedly collected old mobile phones and sold their motherboards to networks linked with foreign data centers.
According to investigators, the accused bought used or damaged phones from street vendors and collectors. His associates also sourced old devices from big cities like Hyderabad, Delhi, and parts of Tamil Nadu. After dismantling the phones, the gang sold the motherboards to middlemen.
Police believe Foreign Miscreants Targeting Useless Mobile Phones may recover sensitive data from these motherboards. Many people sell old phones without deleting personal information, which increases the risk of data theft.
In a related case, police in Kishanganj uncovered another gang that allegedly created fake Aadhaar cards. Officers seized hundreds of forged IDs and several electronic devices during the raid.
Authorities have warned citizens to erase all personal data before selling or discarding old mobile phones.
