Patna, Bihar: Under the Election Commission’s International Election Visitors Programme (IEVP), foreign officials observe Bihar elections to study India’s modern voting process. Fourteen officials from France, South Africa, Belgium, Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand, and Cambodia are visiting Patna for two days.
Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar welcomed the team in New Delhi on Tuesday. The visitors are in Bihar to see how India conducts large-scale elections with Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and strict procedures.
On Wednesday, the delegation will visit EVM centers where polling teams prepare for Thursday’s voting. On Thursday, they will tour polling booths to watch the voting process in action. This visit helps share knowledge and improve cooperation between India and other countries.
The Bihar Assembly elections will take place in two phases. The first phase, with 121 seats across 18 districts, will be held on November 6. The second phase, covering 122 seats, is on November 11. Results will be declared on November 14.
By hosting these observers, India strengthens global trust in its democratic process. Through this exchange, foreign officials observe Bihar elections and learn from India’s transparent voting system.
