Former MLC *Marri Rajasekhar* is set to join the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) today in the presence of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu. Along with him, several YSRCP leaders from Chilakaluripet will also switch allegiance to TDP, formally donning the party’s yellow scarf. Rajasekhar recently resigned from the YSRCP as well as his MLC position, citing differences with former minister Vidadala Rajini.
Rajasekhar has been an active political figure, previously serving as the MLA from Chilakaluripet and also working as the YSRCP’s regional coordinator. His move to TDP is seen as a strategic shift in the political landscape of Guntur district, particularly in Chilakaluripet, where local dynamics have been tense.
Party sources indicate that TDP is likely to strengthen its cadre with the entry of Rajasekhar and his supporters , while YSRCP faces another setback amid ongoing defections ahead of upcoming political challenges.
