Forty Students Hospitalised in Kasaragod After Suspected Food Poisoning
Forty upper primary students from Kakkat Government Higher Secondary School in Nileshwaram, Kasaragod, fell ill on Sunday due to suspected food poisoning, prompting immediate medical attention. The affected students were swiftly hospitalised at nearby healthcare facilities, where they are receiving treatment and observation. School authorities, along with local health officials, have launched an investigation into the source of the contamination, focusing on the midday meal provided at the school. Preliminary reports suggest that the food served may have been contaminated or improperly stored, though officials have not yet confirmed the exact cause. Health teams have also visited the school to inspect kitchen facilities and ensure hygiene standards are met. Parents and local residents expressed concern over the incident, urging stricter oversight of school meal programs. Authorities emphasised that preventive measures, including proper food handling and timely medical response, are crucial to avoid similar incidents in the future.
