Gajuwaka job fair sees 5,000 youth, 1,200 hired on the spot
5,000 youth attend job fair in Gajuwaka, 1,200 hired at the end of a large recruitment drive held on Friday. The event attracted job seekers from Visakhapatnam and nearby districts, officials said.
The job fair took place in Gajuwaka with participation from more than 60 companies. Employers offered roles in manufacturing, logistics, retail, healthcare, and IT-enabled services. Recruiters conducted interviews and skill assessments throughout the day.
Officials said the fair focused on providing opportunities for both fresh graduates and experienced candidates. Several firms selected candidates on the spot, while others issued call letters for the next round of interviews.
The organisers said such events help bridge the gap between employers and local youth. They added that regular job fairs improve employability and reduce migration to other cities.
Many participants welcomed the initiative and said the fair saved time and travel costs. Selected candidates expressed happiness after receiving offer letters.
District officials said similar job fairs would be organised in other parts of the city. They said skill development programmes would also be strengthened to meet industry needs
