Notorious gangster Donny Ball allegedly took responsibility for the murder through a social media post. In the post, he claimed that the sarpanch helped the police demolish his house in Dasuwal village after taking ₹35 lakh. He described the killing as an act of revenge.
However, police have not verified the authenticity of the post. Therefore, Punjab Police has launched a detailed probe to trace the source and identify the real shooters.
Earlier on Sunday, two armed men shot Jarmal Singh during a wedding ceremony at a resort in Amritsar. The attackers fired at close range while he sat with guests. As a result, panic spread across the venue.
Jarmal Singh hailed from Valtoha village in Tarn Taran district and served as the sitting sarpanch. According to police records, he had survived three earlier attacks, which points to a long-standing threat.
Meanwhile, senior officers have intensified the investigation. They are examining CCTV footage, questioning witnesses, and tracking criminal networks. Authorities have assured strict action against those responsible.
