Gaza Hospitals Shut Amid Israeli Ground Offensive

Gaza Hospitals Israeli Offensive

Cairo: Two hospitals in Gaza City have stopped functioning due to damage from Israeli attacks and the advancing ground offensive. Al-Rantissi Children’s Hospital suffered heavy damage a few days ago, while nearby Eye Hospital suspended services after nearby bombardments, the Gaza health ministry said.

The ministry accused Israel of deliberately targeting Gaza’s healthcare system and warned that none of the facilities have safe access routes for patients or the wounded. There was no immediate comment from Israel.

Israeli tanks have advanced deeper into northern and southeastern parts of Gaza City, including Sheikh Radwan, Jala Street, and Tel Al-Hawa. Explosive-laden vehicles detonated remotely have destroyed dozens of houses in these areas.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reaffirmed his plan to eliminate Hamas, secure hostages, and ensure Gaza no longer threatens Israel. Families of Israeli hostages remain worried, with 20 of 48 captives believed to be alive.

Local authorities reported at least 25 people killed on Monday, mostly in Gaza City. Since Hamas’ October 7, 2023, attacks on Israel, which killed 1,200 people and took 251 hostages, Israel’s two-year-long campaign has killed over 65,000 Palestinians, displaced thousands, and caused widespread famine and destruction.
