GHMC Prajavani Loses Public Trust Amid Town Planning Complaints

GHMC Prajavani losing trust as Chandanagar town planning complaints rise, with vigilance probe on illegal constructions and negligence.

The GHMC’s monthly Prajavani program is losing public trust as residents allege that officials ignore most grievances. In Chandanagar Circle, people claim that not a single complaint has been resolved in recent weeks.

Petitions usually cover departments like town planning, revenue, sanitation, engineering, and electrical sections. But recently, almost all complaints have targeted the town planning wing. Over the past three weeks, residents filed 11, 9, and 15 complaints respectively, showing a clear rise in dissatisfaction.

Citizens say officers only collect petitions and take photos during the sessions. They allege that officials avoid action against illegal buildings, shielding builders after collecting bribes. Many residents now question the need for Prajavani if no action follows.

Meanwhile, a vigilance inquiry has begun against a Chandanagar town planning officer accused of favoring builders in Ayyappa Society. Sources said the officer skipped office for four days, citing health reasons. Reports suggest that illegal constructions in Ayyappa Society may be sealed on Thursday, adding pressure on GHMC to act.
