Russian Ambassador to India Denis Alipov criticised the “Global North” for trying to retain dominance through neo-colonial tactics, sanctions, and trade wars. He said such actions show an unwillingness to accept a multipolar world.
Speaking at the 25th India-Russia Strategic Partnership event, Alipov praised the relationship between the two nations as equal and mutually beneficial. He said the partnership, built on trust and respect, has become a strong pillar of global growth and stability.
Alipov added that attempts by Western powers to impose sanctions or provoke trade conflicts hinder reforms in global governance. He said the Global South now plays a crucial role in shaping international politics and economics. The envoy highlighted the rising importance of BRICS and the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) in promoting balanced cooperation.
He noted that Russia remains a key energy and fertiliser supplier to India. Both countries have developed payment systems in national currencies and alternative trade routes like the North-South Transport Corridor. Alipov said the India-Russia partnership is a model for fair and stable global cooperation in an increasingly multipolar world.
