Chandigarh News: A special court of the National Investigation Agency has issued a strict 30-day ultimatum to Goldy Brar. The court directed him to appear in person before it within the stipulated period. It warned that failure to comply will result in his declaration as a fugitive.
Goldy Brar, whose real name is Satwinder Singh, faces serious terror-related charges. A kidnapping case involving a Chandigarh-based businessman was registered against him on January 20, 2024. The NIA took over the investigation on March 8, 2024, citing national security concerns.
Investigators also identify Goldy Brar as the key conspirator in the murder of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala. The central government has already designated him a terrorist under Indian law. He is currently believed to be residing in Canada.
The NIA has booked him under multiple IPC sections. These include criminal conspiracy, extortion, criminal intimidation, and acts endangering life. Authorities have also invoked provisions of the UAPA and the Arms Act.
The court said it may order confiscation of his properties if he fails to appear. Sources say agencies have intensified extradition efforts. Officials are coordinating with Canadian authorities to bring him back to India.
The order marks a major step in tightening action against overseas-based terror operatives.
