Government Employee Arrested for Attempting to Smuggle Ganja into Shivamogga Central Prison

A government employee has been arrested in Shivamogga for allegedly attempting to smuggle ganja into the Shivamogga Central Prison, in a serious breach of security protocols. According to officials, the accused had concealed the banned substance in his innerwear while trying to enter the prison premises, where routine checks led to its detection.
Prison authorities immediately alerted the police, following which the employee was taken into custody. Investigators are examining whether the accused was acting alone or was part of a larger network supplying narcotics to inmates. The incident has raised concerns about insider involvement in smuggling activities within correctional facilities.
Officials stated that strict action will be taken against those attempting to introduce contraband into prisons, especially when such attempts are made by government staff entrusted with responsibility. Further inquiry is underway, and the accused is expected to face charges under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.
