Grow at Home, Engage Abroad”: Jaishankar Urges IIT Madras Students
Union External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar addressed students at IIT Madras in Chennai, emphasizing the importance of building strong roots at home while actively engaging with the global community. Speaking at the launch of the IITM Global Research Foundation, he encouraged students to contribute to India’s growth through innovation and research, while also collaborating internationally to gain broader perspectives.
The event marked the signing of several memoranda of understanding (MoUs) between IIT Madras and leading multinational institutions, covering key global regions. Jaishankar highlighted that such partnerships would enhance research opportunities, foster technological advancements, and prepare students to address global challenges.
He urged students to leverage these collaborations not only to gain knowledge abroad but also to apply their skills locally, strengthening India’s position on the global stage. The Minister described this dual approach—“grow at home, engage abroad”—as essential for the nation’s progress and for shaping future leaders.
