The Gujarat High Court on Monday (September 22, 2025) granted regular bail to AAP MLA Chaitar Vasava in an attempt to murder case. The court allowed bail on the condition that Vasava cannot enter Dediapada taluka in Narmada district for one year.
Justice MR Mengdey approved the plea filed by the tribal leader, who has been in jail since July. Vasava allegedly attacked the Dediapada taluka panchayat president during a meeting in his constituency. He approached the High Court after a sessions court in Rajpipla rejected his bail request. Earlier, he received three-day temporary bail to attend the State Assembly’s monsoon session.
The lower court had noted his past offences, including a six-month jail sentence in 2023 for voluntarily causing hurt. Vasava faces multiple charges under the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita, including attempt to murder, criminal intimidation, intentional insult, damage to property, and insulting the modesty of a woman.
According to the FIR, Vasava became agitated when his nominee was not selected for a local coordination committee. He allegedly hurled a mobile phone at the taluka president, causing injuries, and tried to attack him with a glass, which police prevented.
The bail order allows Vasava temporary freedom while restricting his entry into Dediapada for a year. The court emphasized compliance with the conditions as part of granting bail.
