Harish Rao Warns Speaker Over Procedural Lapses in Telangana Assembly

BRS MLA and former Telangana Minister Harish Rao has raised strong concerns about how the Telangana Legislative Assembly is functioning.
In an open letter to Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar, he said the House is facing serious procedural lapses. According to him, these issues are hurting the credibility of the Assembly and weakening its democratic spirit.

Harish Rao said the recent reduction in the number of working days shows how the Assembly is moving away from healthy debate. He explained that fewer sittings limit discussion, reduce legislative scrutiny, and block the Opposition from raising key public issues.

He also pointed out that several long-followed rules and conventions are not being respected. This, he said, creates doubts about transparency and fairness in running the House.

Harish Rao urged the Speaker to act quickly and restore proper procedures. He said the Assembly must follow established norms to protect its institutional strength and to keep public trust intact.

He added that when lawmakers follow the rules with discipline, the people gain confidence in the democratic process.
