HC Issues Notice to Ludhiana MLA Sanjeev Arora Over Election Petition

High Court issues notice to Ludhiana MLA over election petition

The High Court has issued a notice to Ludhiana MLA Sanjeev Arora in a petition challenging his election. Justice Meenakshi I Mehta set the next hearing for October 13.

Petitioner Jaswinder Singh Malhi, a Ludhiana voter, claims Arora hid required details under Election Commission rules. Malhi says public objections were dismissed under “pressure from unknown forces.”

The petition alleges Arora did not report spending on voter slip booths, 25–30 daily public meetings, social media promotion, and paid news. Including these expenses could exceed the Election Commission’s limit. Malhi also said Arora hired professional religious preachers to influence voters.

The petitioner adds that Arora used unfair methods and state machinery support to win. The court will review these claims in the upcoming hearing.
