HC Orders Revision of KSET Result Norms to Meet Reservation Requirements

The High Court has directed the authorities responsible for conducting the Karnataka State Eligibility Test (KSET) to revisit and revise their result declaration norms to ensure full compliance with reservation and quota guidelines in force. Hearing a petition that challenged the existing evaluation and selection process, the court observed that the current norms may not sufficiently reflect mandatory social justice provisions.
The bench emphasised that examinations conducted for qualifying candidates for assistant professorships must adhere strictly to reservation policies adopted by the State. It instructed the KSET Centre to review its procedures, including cut-off determination and category-wise selection, and to submit a revised framework that aligns with statutory requirements.
Petitioners argued that deviations in the present system had adversely affected candidates from reserved categories. The court has sought a detailed response and said that any future declaration of results must incorporate the corrected norms to ensure fairness and transparency in the selection process.
