Heavy Rains Lash Mumbai, IMD Issues Red Alert
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for Mumbai, Thane, Raigad, and Palghar as heavy rains continue to batter the region. Colaba recorded over 120 mm of rainfall overnight, leading to waterlogging and major traffic disruptions. Several flights and train services were delayed, and airlines issued advisories urging passengers to check schedules. Authorities have asked residents to avoid unnecessary travel and stay indoors. Emergency teams are on alert, and schools in some areas may remain shut. The situation remains critical as more intense rain is forecast in the next 24 hours.
