The Bihar government has ordered vehicle owners to install High Security Number Plates within 30 days. Around 52 lakh vehicles in the state still do not have these plates. Authorities warned that owners must replace old plates with High Security Number Plates before the deadline to avoid penalties.
Transport Minister Shrawan Kumar said the rule applies to vehicles registered before 2019. Owners can visit authorized dealers or agencies to install the new plates. Officials believe the change will improve vehicle tracking and reduce crimes involving fake registration numbers.
If vehicle owners fail to install the plates within the given time, they may face fines between ₹5,000 and ₹10,000 under the Motor Vehicles Act. The transport department has urged people to complete the process soon to avoid penalties.
High Security Registration Plates are made of strong aluminum and include a unique laser-engraved code and a hologram. These features help authorities identify vehicles and prevent number plate tampering.
