The hijab controversy in Bihar has taken a sharp political turn, creating tension between leaders in Bihar and Jharkhand. The issue centers on Dr Nusrat Parveen, an AYUSH doctor, and remarks made during a recent public interaction involving Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.
After the incident went viral, Jharkhand Health Minister Dr Irfan Ansari stepped in and offered Dr Nusrat a job in Jharkhand. He said she would receive a monthly salary of ₹3 lakh, a posting of her choice, and government housing. His announcement quickly drew national attention.
The hijab controversy in Bihar deepened when the Janata Dal (United) reacted strongly. JDU leaders accused Dr Ansari of politicising a sensitive issue and misleading the public. They questioned his authority to make such an offer and demanded that he withdraw his statement.
JDU also said the matter was being exaggerated for political gain. Party leaders stressed that Dr Nusrat faced no discrimination and would soon join duty in Bihar.
Meanwhile, officials from Dr Nusrat’s college said she held no personal grievance against the Chief Minister. The controversy continues to fuel debate, with political leaders trading sharp remarks and social media amplifying the issue.
