In the hijab controversy, Bihar politics took a disturbing turn after a ruling party MLA made a violent and shocking remark against Uttar Pradesh minister Sanjay Nishad. The hijab controversy began after a viral video showed Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar allegedly removing a woman doctor’s hijab during a public event.
Reacting to Sanjay Nishad’s defence of Nitish Kumar, Saharsa MLA I.P. Gupta posted an aggressive message on social media. He called Nishad “shameless” and said he should be made to stand at a crossroads and be pelted with stones.
The remark triggered immediate criticism from political circles and civil society. Many leaders said such statements encourage violence and damage democratic values. Critics also questioned why no action was taken despite the seriousness of the comment.
Earlier, Sanjay Nishad had supported Nitish Kumar and dismissed allegations linked to the hijab video. Opposition parties, however, accused the Chief Minister of disrespecting religious sentiments.
The controversy continues to grow as demands rise for accountability. The issue has now moved beyond a viral clip and turned into a larger debate on political conduct and respect for religious identity.
