A powerful explosion rocked Nalagarh town in Himachal Pradesh on New Year morning, triggering panic among residents. The blast occurred around 9:45 am near the Nalagarh police station in Solan district.
The explosion was so intense that people heard it several kilometres away. Windows of nearby buildings shattered due to the impact. Damaged structures included the police station, Sainik Bhawan, and the Market Committee office.
Residents rushed out of their homes in fear after hearing the loud sound. Police received the alert and immediately swung into action. Baddi Superintendent of Police Vinod Dhiman reached the spot along with senior officers.
Authorities sealed the area and evacuated nearby buildings as a precautionary measure. A forensic team arrived at the scene and began collecting samples. Investigators are examining debris to determine the exact cause of the blast.
Police officials have not confirmed whether the explosion resulted from an explosive device, gas leakage, or technical fault. They said it would be premature to draw conclusions before forensic analysis.
The incident took place during peak tourist season, as thousands of visitors arrived in Himachal Pradesh to celebrate the New Year. Officials confirmed that no casualties or injuries have been reported so far.
Police plan to hold a press briefing soon to share verified details.
