September 17, 1948, marks the historic day when Hyderabad State, under Nizam’s rule, was integrated into the Indian Union. This pivotal moment in history is being commemorated by various political parties under different names.

The previous BRS (Bharat Rashtra Samithi) government had observed the day as *‘National Integration Day’* to honor the unity achieved through the merger. On the other hand, the current Congress government has renamed the day as *‘People’s Governance Day’*.

The BJP-led central government has consistently observed it as *‘Telangana Liberation Day’* for the past five years. Despite the varied names, the common goal remains the same—to honor the sacrifices made by the martyrs and remember the struggle for the region’s integration into India. These observances reflect the different political perspectives surrounding this significant day in Telangana’s history.
