Nazeer Hameed Extradition Case has gained new momentum eight years after Andhra woman Sasikala Narra and her six-year-old son Anish were found murdered in their New Jersey apartment. US investigators charged Indian national Nazeer Hameed, who worked with Sasikala’s husband at Cognizant in New Jersey. Police said Hameed lived close to the victims before he returned to India soon after the murders.
Investigators said a new DNA match linked Hameed to the crime. They struggled for years to obtain his DNA because he refused to provide it. In 2024, a court order required Cognizant to send his company-issued laptop to the US. Forensic experts tested the device and found DNA that matched a blood droplet from the crime scene.
On March 23, 2017, Sasikala’s husband Hanu Narra returned to their Maple Shade home and discovered his wife and son dead. Both suffered multiple stab injuries and tried to defend themselves. During the investigation, police found that one blood sample did not belong to the victims or Hanu.
Police said Hameed had earlier faced stalking accusations and may have held a personal grudge. Investigators now aim to bring him back to the US to face trial.
