HRF Flags Doctor Shortage and Failing Emergency Care in Hyderabad Government Hospitals

The Human Rights Forum (HRF) has raised serious concerns over doctor shortages and inadequate emergency care in government hospitals across Hyderabad, warning that the situation is severely affecting patient treatment. In a representation addressed to the Chief Minister, HRF highlighted the urgent need to increase bed capacity to cope with rising patient inflow.
The forum pointed out that several hospitals are functioning with insufficient medical staff, leading to long waiting hours and compromised emergency response. It also noted that critical medical equipment in many facilities is either faulty, under prolonged repair, or requires complete replacement, further hampering effective healthcare delivery.
HRF urged the government to take immediate steps to recruit doctors and paramedical staff, upgrade infrastructure, and ensure timely maintenance of equipment. Without swift intervention, the group warned, public hospitals would continue to struggle, placing vulnerable patients at risk and widening healthcare inequities in the city.
