In a shocking incident, a husband threw acid on his wife then he drank himself in Bhagalpur, Bihar. The brutal act took place on Thursday morning in the Ranitalab area after a heated family dispute. The incident left the woman critically injured and the man dead.
The accused, identified as 55-year-old Dulal Poddar, attacked his wife Poonam Devi inside their house. During the argument, he poured acid on her and forced her to consume it. Soon after, he drank the acid himself and locked the room from inside.
Hearing loud screams, neighbors rushed to the house and informed the police. When officers broke open the door, they found Dulal dead on the spot. Poonam suffered severe burns and was immediately taken to a hospital. Doctors later referred her to Patna due to her critical condition.
The couple’s son told police that his father had returned from Delhi on December 31 and had brought the acid with him. The children ran to their grandfather’s house out of fear during the incident.
Police have started an investigation to find out why the husband threw acid on wife then he drank himself. Further legal action is underway.
