The IAS Nilesh Deore Charter Plane Controversy has stirred a major political debate in Bihar. The IAS Nilesh Deore Charter Plane Controversy erupted after opposition leaders questioned a senior officer’s travel on a chartered flight from Delhi to Patna with his family. They asked who paid for the flight and whether official rules were followed.
State minister Ashok Choudhary strongly defended the officer in the Assembly. He said the plane was already heading to Patna and claimed no rules were broken. He also attacked critics and linked the remarks to social bias, asking whether officers from Dalit communities should not travel by air.
Nilesh Ramchandra Deore is a 2011-batch IAS officer of the Bihar cadre. He has served as district magistrate in several districts and held key administrative posts in the state government.
