The Bihar burqa voting issue has sparked a strong political debate ahead of the Bihar Assembly elections. Nitish Kumar’s minister Krishnanandan Paswan said that if Muslim women wearing burqas are allowed to vote through face-matching, Hindu women should also be allowed to vote while wearing veils. He argued that equality should be maintained for all communities during elections.
During an Election Commission meeting in Patna, BJP state president Dilip Jaiswal raised the matter, suggesting face-matching for women wearing burqas. The minister supported this and said that if burqas are acceptable, veils should also be acceptable. The Election Commission has yet to announce its final decision on this matter.
The Bihar burqa voting issue has become one of the key topics in the state’s political discussions. The Election Commission plans to conduct Bihar elections in two phases, ensuring fair and transparent polls. Voters will be allowed to carry mobile phones to polling booths, and candidates can open help centers near voting areas.
