IIIT-Bengaluru Innovates Smart Technology for Future Wireless Networks
The International Institute of Information Technology, Bengaluru (IIIT-B) is pioneering advancements in next-generation wireless communication by developing smart panels aimed at enhancing 5G and shaping future 6G networks. These smart panels, known as Reconfigurable Intelligent Surfaces (RIS), manipulate electromagnetic waves to improve signal quality and coverage.
In collaboration with industry partners, IIIT-B is integrating RIS technology into 5G-Advanced and 6G networks. The institute is also setting up a 5G testbed lab focused on urban management and healthcare, giving students and startups space to innovate.
Additionally, IIIT-B is working on intelligent channel estimation algorithms and machine learning scheduling methods to boost network performance.
These efforts position IIIT-B as a key player in advancing wireless tech and contributing to the development of 6G.
