The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and western Uttar Pradesh, warning of intense and prolonged rainfall in the coming days. Authorities in these states have been asked to remain on high alert, with local administrations instructed to ensure preparedness for potential flooding, landslides, and traffic disruptions.

Alongside this, the IMD has placed Jammu and Kashmir, Rajasthan, and eastern Uttar Pradesh under a yellow alert, signaling the likelihood of moderate rainfall with isolated heavy showers. Residents in these areas have been urged to stay cautious, especially near rivers and low-lying regions.

Punjab remains the worst hit, with thousands of acres of farmland submerged and large numbers of people displaced due to incessant rain. Relief operations are underway, with volunteers, the NDRF, and other agencies distributing food, boats, and medical supplies.

In the Delhi–NCR region, heavy rain is expected to continue, leading to waterlogging, traffic congestion, and delays in air and rail services. Schools in some districts have been advised to close temporarily. The IMD has urged citizens across affected states to monitor updates and avoid unnecessary travel.
