Imran Khan Sisters Allege Brutal Police Assault Outside Adiala Jail

Rumours about Imran Khan’s death in jail sparked fresh tension this week as his three sisters accused police of attacking them outside Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail. Noreen Khan, Aleema Khan, and Uzma Khan said police beat them and several PTI supporters when they gathered to demand a meeting with the former prime minister. Khan has remained in jail since 2023, and his family said they haven’t been allowed to meet him for more than three weeks.

PTI said the sisters and supporters were sitting peacefully when police “pounced on them” and assaulted them. The party demanded an impartial investigation into the attack.

In a letter to Punjab police chief Usman Anwar, the sisters said the violence was planned. Noreen said streetlights were switched off before police launched the assault. She said officers dragged her by her hair and threw her to the ground. Other women were slapped and pulled across the road. She warned that such actions reflect a growing pattern of unchecked force against peaceful protesters.

The sisters urged the Punjab IGP to take strict action against the officers involved.

Khan remains in isolation, according to PTI. His legal team said even books and essential items are blocked. Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi also failed in seven attempts to meet him, which his supporters claim shows military interference.
