Sons of Pakistan’s incarcerated former Prime Minister Imran Khan say the Shehbaz Sharif government is deliberately refusing their visas so they cannot visit him in prison. Imran Khan, 73, was arrested in August 2023 and is serving a sentence in Adiala Jail, Rawalpindi, after being convicted in multiple cases.
His sons, Suleman and Kasim Khan, who live in London, said on social media that their father has been in solitary confinement for about 914 days, and his health is getting worse. They claim he is being denied proper medical care, and stopping them from seeing him is unfair and cruel.
The sons have urged international human rights organizations and governments to intervene. Pakistan Tehreek‑e‑Insaf, Khan’s party, has also expressed concern about his eye health and the lack of family visits. While some officials deny the visa refusal is intentional, the sons insist their requests are being blocked.
