The 13th round of India-EU trade talks is underway in New Delhi. EU Trade Commissioner Maroš Sefčovič will meet Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal on Friday to drive discussions forward.
Both sides want to finalise the trade deal by December 2025. Officials see this round as critical in shaping the future of the agreement. India believes the deal could cushion its economy against global uncertainty and counter fresh US tariffs imposed by President Donald Trump.
Negotiators are focusing on sensitive sectors. India has assured farmers that their interests will not be compromised. While the EU seeks wider market access, New Delhi insists domestic producers must remain protected.
The agreement promises reduced tariffs, stronger investments, and closer economic cooperation. Experts say it could open new doors for Indian exports and make trade with Europe easier and more profitable.
