India is Not for Us’: Gujarat Redditor to Return to Canada After One Year
A Reddit user from Navsari, Gujarat, has decided to return to Canada after living in India for a year. In a viral post, they shared 11 reasons behind the move, stating bluntly: “India is not for us.”
Among the top concerns were air pollution, poor road safety, and food hygiene. The user said constant pollution caused irritation and health issues, while reckless driving made commuting stressful.
They also cited noise pollution, political division, caste tensions, and rising drug use among youth. The cost of education and high income taxes, with little return in services, added to their frustration.
Socially, they struggled with a “show-off” culture, inflated egos, and extreme competitiveness, which made daily life exhausting.
Despite moving back to be closer to family, the user said the overall lifestyle and system felt overwhelming, leading them to conclude that India wasn’t the right fit for them.
