India is preparing to buy more units of the S-400 Triumf long-range air defence system from Russia in a deal estimated at ₹10,000 crore. This move comes after the success of “Operation Sindoor,” where the S-400 system played a key role in neutralizing enemy missiles and drones.
The Indian Air Force has already begun discussions with Russia to expand its S-400 fleet, aiming to strengthen India’s layered air-defence network. India had earlier signed a major agreement with Russia in 2018 for five S-400 regiments, and the fresh purchase will further boost national security against aerial threats.
Meanwhile, India and Russia are also working together to enhance the BrahMos missile platform, increasing strike range and precision capabilities. These combined efforts reflect India’s focus on modernizing its defence arsenal to counter evolving regional challenges.
