Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda met former UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak in New Delhi on Thursday under the ‘Know BJP’ initiative. They discussed ways to deepen India–UK relations and leverage technology to strengthen healthcare at the grassroots level. Nadda gifted Sunak a shawl and a Himachali cap.
Nadda shared insights on BJP’s organizational framework, its connection with citizens, and its commitment to inclusive development. He also conveyed warm Diwali greetings to Sunak and his family. Sunak expressed appreciation for India’s vision and highlighted the importance of closer bilateral cooperation.
Earlier this year, Sunak and his family met PM Narendra Modi in New Delhi and held discussions on various subjects. Modi called Sunak a great friend of India and praised their conversation on strengthening ties. Sunak acknowledged his friendship with Modi and emphasized the need to enhance economic, security, and scientific collaboration between both nations.
Sunak, born in Southampton to Indian parents from Punjab, served as UK Prime Minister from 2022 to 2024. He consistently highlights his Indian roots and supports initiatives like the FinTech Bridge connecting London and Mumbai, aiming to boost cooperation in finance, technology, healthcare, and education.
