India on Friday voted in favour of a UN General Assembly resolution on Palestine, supporting the “New York Declaration” for a peaceful settlement and endorsing the two-state solution. With 142 nations backing the resolution, 10 voting against, and 12 abstaining, the declaration gained strong global support.

The resolution, introduced by France and co-chaired by Saudi Arabia, calls for urgent collective action to end the war in Gaza. Leaders stressed the need for a just, peaceful, and lasting settlement of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict through the effective implementation of the two-state solution.

India stood with nations like Argentina and Hungary in voting for the resolution. The declaration reaffirmed the right of Palestinians to self-determination and demanded that Israel halt settlement activities, land grabs, and violence in the Occupied Palestinian Territories, including East Jerusalem.

It also highlighted the grave human toll of the conflict, warning that without decisive measures, peace in the region will remain elusive. The declaration stressed that Gaza is an integral part of a Palestinian state and must be unified with the West Bank.

By endorsing the two-state solution, India reaffirmed its long-standing support for peace, stability, and justice in the Middle East.
