The India vs Pakistan Super 4 clash in the Asia Cup 2025 was not only about cricket. Gestures made by Pakistan players Haris Rauf and Sahibzada Farhan during the match sparked debate on social media. Many fans and experts criticised the pair for what they called immature celebrations.
Ahead of Pakistan’s final Super 4 game against Bangladesh, pacer Shaheen Afridi addressed the issue. Speaking to reporters, he said the team’s focus should stay on cricket, not on-field antics. “Our job is to play cricket. Everyone has the right to express themselves,” Shaheen said, downplaying the criticism. He added, “Everyone has their own respect and thoughts. We have come to win the Asia Cup and we are giving our best.”
Pakistan have already lost twice to India in the tournament. The two teams could meet again in the final on September 28 if results align. Shaheen remained confident, saying Pakistan are ready for any opponent. “We will defeat whoever comes in the final,” he declared. He also admitted Pakistan need more wins against top sides but promised the team is working hard to change that.
