Heavy rains have lashed several northern states, leading to severe floods in Punjab, Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh. Overflowing rivers submerged villages and disrupted daily life. Many areas remain cut off as transport networks collapsed under flood pressure.
In Punjab, multiple districts faced heavy flooding, forcing disaster response teams to launch large-scale rescue operations. To strengthen these efforts, the Indian Army joined relief activities in Amritsar and surrounding regions. Soldiers deployed advanced vehicles to move through floodwaters and evacuate stranded residents.
A highlight of the operations has been the use of the ATOR N1200 Specialist Mobility Vehicle (SMV). Officials said the vehicle can easily navigate submerged roads and swiftly reach trapped families. Videos showing the Army vehicle moving smoothly through floodwaters went viral online. Netizens praised the Indian Army for its bravery and efficiency in disaster response.
Meanwhile, rescue efforts are underway across several Punjab districts, including Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Hoshiarpur, Kapurthala, Fazilka, Ferozepur, Jalandhar, Ropar, Tarn Taran, Sangrur, Mansa, Bathinda, and Ludhiana. Authorities continue to urge residents to remain cautious as heavy rains are expected to persist in parts of North India.
