Indian Army Develops High-Altitude Monorail in Arunachal Pradesh
The Indian Army’s Gajraj Corps has successfully developed an in-house High Altitude Monorail System (HAMRS) to support military operations in the challenging terrains of Arunachal Pradesh. The monorail is designed to function efficiently at elevations of up to 16,000 feet in the Kameng Himalayas, where traditional transport methods are often hampered by harsh weather and rugged landscapes.
The system aims to facilitate the swift movement of troops, supplies, and equipment across high-altitude regions, enhancing operational readiness and logistical efficiency. Built with indigenous technology, the monorail underscores the Army’s push for self-reliance in defence infrastructure and advanced engineering solutions.
Officials highlighted that the project also provides strategic advantages along border areas, improving accessibility to remote outposts. The successful deployment of the HAMRS reflects a combination of innovation, resilience, and adaptation to extreme terrain, strengthening India’s defensive capabilities in its northeastern frontier.
